Abstract :
Bulk glasses of Se85S15−xSbx system, where x=0,3,6,9,12, and 15 at.%, were prepared and investigated by X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and ultrasonic techniques. The results reveal that the glass transition temperature Tg, the crystallisation temperature, Tc and the melting temperature, Tm, appeared in the temperature range 300–490 K and are strongly affected by the Sb content. However, all transition temperature peaks observed on both DSC thermograms and ultrasonic attenuation spectra were assigned according to previous data on chalcogenides. The present investigations indicate that the prepared system is structurally inhomogeneous at a molecular level, in which Se–S, Se3Sb2 phases are dispersed in an Se–Se matrix.
