Preparation of porous glasses from phosphorus slag

Leaching of phosphorus slag with phosphoric, nitric and hydrochloric acids was demonstrated to result in porous glasses. The textural properties of the materials depend on the nature of the acid, its concentration and leaching time. Under certain conditions materials with high values of specific surface area can be obtained. The formation of the porous materials occurs via destruction of a less stable phase in the phase-separated slag glass.
