Abstract
Electrical resistivity and thermoelectric power in amorphous alloys Al90−xY10Nix (x=0,2,5,8) are consistent with the Faber–Ziman theory when a filling of 3d states of Ni and 4d states of Y by 3p electrons of Al is included. The observed increase of thermoelectric power (TEP) during crystallization is explained taking into account the increasing content of transition metals in the amorphous matrix. Crystalline fraction is calculated from thermoelectric data.
