  • Abstract
The synthesis, molecular and crystal structure of the [(iPrSn)11(VO)O14(OH)6]+ ion 1 are described. 1 was found in the compound 1·Cl·2DMF·H2O and is the first oxovanadium derivative of the long-known [(iPrSn)12O14(OH)6]2+ ion 2. The green compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group P with a=13.989(2), b=14.541(2), c=19.713(3) Å, α=97.16(1)°, β=93.79(1)°, γ=116.08(1)°, V=3540.5(9) Å3, Z=2. 1 shows the same icosahedral arrangement of metal atoms as the tin compound as well as the same arrangement of oxygen atoms. The vanadium atom is coordinated by five oxygen atoms and replaces one of the square-pyramidally coordinated organotin groups. In the solid state the big cations are linked by hydrogen bonds to Cl− ions forming chains along the a axis. Two of these chains are linked by OH⋯OV hydrogen bonds resulting in a band structure.
