Abstract
A GFA (glass-forming ability) indicator, reduced crystallization temperature (Trx), has been suggested based on the consideration of both resistance of the amorphous phase against crystallization and stability of the under-cooled liquid against competing crystalline phase formation. The Trx parameter exhibits the best correlations with critical thickness (Zc) and critical cooling rate (Rc) for glass formation when compared with those of ΔTx, Trg, and γ parameters. The Trx parameter obtained under higher scanning rate exhibits better linear regression fit with glass forming ability (GFA).
