Abstract :
By providing theoretical insight into the nature of triple bonding between heavier Group 14 elements, the electronic and steric effects of substituents on siliconsilicon triple bonds are investigated to make disilynes synthetically accessible as stable compounds. Synthetic targets worthy of experimental testing are predicted for RSiSiR.
