Abstract :
Relative electron-donating properties of anionic polyhedral boron hydrides were estimated on analysis of 1H NMR chemical shifts of the β-hydrogens in their derivatives. The electron donating properties of boron clusters were found to decrease in the following order [2-B10H9]2− > [B12H11]2− ∼ [12-CB11H11]− ∼ [10-nido-7,8-C2B9H10]− > [8-3,3′-Co(1,2-C2B9H10)(1,2-C2B9H11)]− > [1-B10H9]2−.
