Iron ansa half sandwich complexes bearing a bridging distannadiyl moiety

The new distannadiyl-ansa half sandwich complex [{κ1-SntBu2SntBu2-(η5-C5H5)}Fe(CO)2] was synthesized via a non-bridged half sandwich precursor upon treatment with LDA. The compound exhibits a high ring strain within the bridge, which enables further reactivity as exemplarily demonstrated for the insertion of chalcogens. Finally, treatment of the ansa complex with [Pd(CNtBu)2] results in the oxidative addition of the distannadiyl bridge to the palladium centre.
