Abstract :
Reduction of [(t-Bu-DAD)TiCl(μ-Cl)]2 (1) (t-Bu-DAD: t-BuNCHCHNt-Bu) with magnesium in the presence of benzophenone yields the MgCl2-bridged dimeric titanium ketone complex [(t-Bu-DAD)Ti(μ,η2-OCPh2)]2Mg(μ-Cl)2(THF) (2) whose molecular structure largely conforms with the assumptions about the structure of the first step of the reductive coupling of ketones at low-valent titanium.
