High resolution solid state NMR investigation of various boron nitride preceramic polymers

Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) ceramics can be prepared from polymeric precursors by heat treatment under inert atmosphere. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the strategy that can be followed to characterize by 15N and 11B solid state NMR the polymers as well as their pyrolysis derivatives. A suitable choice of NMR techniques, combined with isotopic enrichment, can lead to a good qualitative as well as quantitative description of the local environment of B and N sites in such complex samples.
