Oxorhenium(V) ‘3+2’ mixed-ligand complexes carrying the SNO/SN donor and C60

Fullerenes based Schiff bases are prepared and used to stabilise the [ReO]3+ core. We show, for this purpose, that ligand exchange reactions of [NBu4][ReOCl4] with bidentate SN and tridentate Schiff bases derived from the condensation of ketones or aldehydes with dithiocarbazic acid methyl ester (H2N–NH–C(S)SCH3) produce new ‘3+2’ mixed-ligand complexes carrying the SNO/SN donor atom set.
