Syntheses of novel N-[bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]-1,2- and 1,3-diamines

Original N-[bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]-1,2- and 1,3-diamines of type I were prepared either from bis-imination reaction of 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds with bis(trimethylsilyl)methylamine, BSMA (1) followed by reduction or from cyanoethylation of BSMA followed by reduction of the nitrile group. By varying the conditions of the cyanoethylation reaction bisaddition was obtained allowing to access to 5-[bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]caldine (8).
