Aqueous surfactant-alcohol systems: A review

The formation and properties of aggregates in aqueous surfactant + alcohol mixtures are reviewed, with particular emphasis on: (i) alcohol partition coefficient in micellar solutions; (ii) critical micelle concentration and micelle ionization degree (iii) micelle size and shape and intermicellar interactions; (iv) theoretical aspects; (v) dynamics of the mixed surfactant + alcohol micelles; (vi) phase diagrams of, and microstructure in, selected mixtures; (vii) role of alcohols in microemulsions.
