Vertical vibrations of rigid circular disks under ground-transmitted high-frequency waves

The vertical vibrations of rigid circular disks on elastic and viscoelastic stratums subjected to high-frequency vertical excitations are studied. The responses of rigid disks subjected to ground-transmitted harmonic and transient waves are discussed. It is found that the existence of the stratums has damping effect on the responses of the disks. The damping effect is dependent upon the Poissonʹs ratio of the stratum, its depth and material damping as well as the excitation frequency and the mass of the disk.
