Abstract :
This paper reports the studies on the solid state synthesis, densification, microstructure and ion conductivity of double substituted Bi4V2O11 (Bi2V0.9Cu0.05Ti0.05O5.4). Differential thermal and X-ray analysis indicate that synthesis of the compound can be accomplished at 620–650°C, and the room temperature phase is the tetragonal γ form of Bi4V2O11. Samples with more than 95% theoretical densities were obtained after sintering at 810°C for several minutes or 750°C for a few hours. The report also includes examination of the microstructure as well as evaluation of the electrical properties with respect to temperature and samples grain size.
