Sensitivity to noise of interspike intervals produced by an impacting vibrating beam

We use experimentally recorded time series of impact times to calculate the interspike intervals of an impacting oscillator. Using the interspike intervals we analyse the dynamics and especially the periodicity exhibited by the oscillator. We evaluate the effect of noise in the measurements and how this is reflected in the interspike intervals and the subsequent analyses. We compare experimental data against results produced numerically.
