  • Abstract
Experimental data on vapor–liquid equilibria (VLE) in the ternary system orange peel oil (limonene)+ethanol+carbon dioxide were measured at the temperature of 333 K and pressures from 50 to 100 bar. The orange peel oil contains about 95 wt.% limonene. Cubic equations of state (PR, SRK) coupled with the GE–EOS mixing rules were used to predict ternary VLE at supercritical conditions of the system limonene+ethanol+carbon dioxide. The mixing rule models MHV1, MHV2 and HVID were used. The prediction of the ternary phase behavior is based on binary interaction parameters of the GE–EOS model, obtained by correlation of binary VLE data. VLE data for limonene+CO2 and ethanol+CO2, available in literature, were used. For the binary limonene+ethanol system data were generated by UNIFAC 93 method. The prediction of VLE for the ternary system limonene+ethanol+carbon dioxide was compared with experimental data on VLE in the ternary system orange peel oil (limonene)+ethanol+carbon dioxide, assuming that the orange peel oil can be approximated with only one component, the limonene.
