Polyharmonic (thin-plate) splines in the analysis of composite plates

In the present study a layerwise theory for composite and sandwich laminated plates is discretized by polyharmonic (thin-plates) splines. A composite and a sandwich plate examples are presented and discussed. The combination of adequate shear deformation theory and thin-plate splines allows a very accurate prediction of displacements and stresses.
