Abstract :
Spin-off model was suggested from the viewpoint of lubricant molecule migration. Lubricant molecules move from the inner diameter to outer diameter on the magnetic disk when the air shear force and the centrifugal force act on the molecules. The spin-off behavior was calculated using this model, and the experimental results were clearly explained by the results of that simulation. In addition, the adsorption energy of lubricant molecules onto magnetic disk was determined as the activation energy from the measurement of replenishing velocity of lubricant film. The adsorption energies of perfluoropolyether lubricant molecule were different from the nitrogenated amorphous carbon overcoat and the DLC overcoat.
