Abstract :
The paper presents an evaluation of wear produced by adhesion during the contact between asperity of two rough surfaces in relative motion. The numerical results are based on a diffusive model that allows wear volume forming at the tip of a sliding asperity to be evaluated. In turn, the material transfer generated in several diffusive regimes, like normal and anomalous diffusion will be discussed. The quantitative results can facilitate the interpretation of recent experimental features in the field of adhesion and transfer processes.
