Abstract :
As a novel charged carrier for copper(II), a new calboxylated thiacrown ether, 2-(3,6,10,13-tetrathiacyclotetra-dec-1-oxy)hexanoic acid (TTCT-OHA) was developed. The Cu2+-selective plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membrane electrode using TTCT-OHA without anionic additive, exhibits reversible potential responses with an almost Nernstian slope for Cu2+ ions in the concentration ranges from 1.0 × 10−7 to 1.0 × 10−3 M for 2 months with a 90% response time (t90%) of 6 s and the limit of detection (LOD) of 6.3 × 10−8 M. The electrode was effectively performed in the pH range 5.3–7.2. The good results were obtained by applying the potentiometric titration of Cu2+ ions. Preliminary application of FET checker was also carried out.
