Abstract :
Electrocatalytic oxidation of sotalol on a copper nanoparticle-based nanocomposite is presented. Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry were employed to obtain information about the oxidation process. The drug was irreversibly oxidized on the carbon paste electrode and produced two anodic peaks. Sotalol was oxidized on polycrystalline copper electrode, and an ill-defined anodic peak was attained at anodic edge of the voltammogram. At the same time, both microcomposite and nanocomposite oxidized sotalol via a well-defined anodic peak with respect to polycrystalline copper electrode. Beside, the nanocomposite generated higher anodic current. The catalytic rate constant and the diffusion coefficient of sotalol are reported.
