Abstract :
A simple, stable and reproducible nanosilver/SDS modified glassy carbon electrode was developed as a sensing probe for the electrochemical determination of thiamethoxam. The electrode offers very low reduction potential for thiamethoxam compared to other modified electrodes reported in the literature. A linear relationship between the peak current and the concentration was obtained from differential pulse voltammetry in the range from 0.1 to 9 μM with the detection limit of 0.1 μM. The modified electrode is highly stable over time; one time modified electrode can be used for seven measurements for the sensing of thiamethoxam. The cheap stabilizing agent, SDS was used for the preparation of silver nanoparticles. The analytical utility of the proposed sensor was tested with the potato samples. Real sample analysis was also carried out by using this electrode. The results show good agreement with the HPLC method. Cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry and amperometry were used as sensing techniques. This electrode can be used for the sensing of thiamethoxam under field conditions.
