LDPC codes: a group algebra formulation

After the rediscovery of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, their decoding algorithms have been studied by mathematical tools pertinent more to computer science than the conventional algebraic coding theory. We propose an entirely new approach to this problem, which gives new insights into the issues of iterative decoding from the algebraic coding theoristʹs point of view.
