Abstract :
The theory of design of experiments was applied to study some factors which may influence the flame atomic absorption determination of ruthenium. The estimation of the magnitude of the main effects and some two factor interactions on the sensitivity of ruthenium was studied in two buffer solutions: cerium and lanthanum. The flame type, the presence of iron, silicon and acid at some levels studied as well as some two factor interactions have been found to have an important influence on ruthenium sensitivity by this technique, depending on the buffer used.
