Vitrification of borate waste from nuclear power plant using coal fly ash. (II) Leaching behavior of the FA30 glass

The leachability of the FA30 glass was investigated using TCLP and M-PCT tests. The heavy metals, Pb, Zn, Ba, Cr, Cd and Ni were successfully immobilized in the FA30 glass, as determined by the TCLP test. The results of M-PCT tests indicated that the ion-exchange process dominated the glass corrosion. The releases of Al and Fe were due to the glass network dissolution in the FA30 glass.
