Abstract :
This paper describes the comparison between analysis and measurement of aerodynamic admittance functions for lift and moment. Sears’ function, which is a theoretical expression for the aerodynamic admittance function for a thin airfoil, is conventionally applied to the gust response analysis of long-span bridges. According to the experimental results of the aerodynamic admittance function for deck sections, the measured aerodynamic admittance functions were different from Sears’ function and some experimental formulas were suggested. However, these formulas cannot be applied to every deck section. Then we propose new prediction method of aerodynamic admittance function for lift and moment utilizing flutter derivatives and the predicted values were compared with the measured ones in the flow of actively generated turbulence. Our method was verified to be very practical.
