Abstract :
We examined a viscous flow behavior of a Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 bulk glassy alloy as a function of deformation temperature in a supercooled liquid region by high-temperature compression test. Large relative displacement of over 75% was obtained when the temperature was in the range from 713 K to 733 K. The temperature dependence of viscosity accords with the Vogel–Fulcher–Tammann (VFT) formula at the temperature above 703 K. An incubation time for isothermal annealing crystallization was reduced during the viscous flow deformation. The thermal stability of the supercooled liquid decreased after viscous flow deformation. At the temperatures of 713 K and 723 K, nano-crystallization was recognized. The hardness increased slightly after deformation at low temperatures below 713 K and significantly at higher temperatures above 723 K.
