Abstract :
Series of RE11Ni4In9 compounds (RE = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Y) were obtained by arc-melting of metals under an argon atmosphere. Their crystal structure was determined from X-ray powder data (STOE diffractometer, CuKα1-radiation) and belongs to the Nd11Pd4In9 structure type (space group Cmmm, Z = 2), which is the member of homological series based on AlB2 and CsCl types. Lattice constants: a = 15.0173(9), b = 22.515(2), c = 3.8381(1) Å for La11Ni4In9; a = 14.8506(7), b = 22.222(1), c = 3.7797(1) Å for Ce11Ni4In9; a = 14.791(1), b = 22.164(2), c = 3.7542(1) Å for Pr11Ni4In9; a = 14.7288(8), b = 22.084(1), c = 3.7324(1) Å for Nd11Ni4In9; a = 14.600(1), b = 21.903(2), c = 3.6880(2) Å for Sm11Ni4In9; a = 14.4802(6), b = 21.7597(9), c = 3.6575(1) Å for Gd11Ni4In9; a = 14.4060(7), b = 21.639(1), c = 3.6284(1) Å for Tb11Ni4In9; a = 14.327(4), b = 21.497(6), c = 3.6070(9) for Y11NI4In9.
