We determine all dense near 2 n -gons, n ⩾ 3 , in which each hex is isomorphic to either the dual polar space H D ( 5 , q 2 ) , the product near hexagon Q ( 5 , q ) × L q + 1 or a glued near hexagon of type Q ( 5 , q ) ⊗ Q ( 5 , q ) .
