Abstract
Tensile properties, impact energies, and resistances to crack propagation have been assessed for some common PM steels which have been consolidated by rotary compaction and sintering. Relative densities of 0.93 to 0.98 were obtained. Properties were in accord with those of the same materials produced by other means to the same densities. Relationships between yield strengths and toughnesses fit neither with extrapolations from lower densities nor with expectations for fully dense steels. Potential reasons for this observation are proposed.
