Modeling and simulation of communication systems: an overview

This tutorial gives a brief introductory tour of the main ideas underlying the simulation of communication systems (links). These ideas are placed under three categories: modeling, performance evaluation techniques, and the role of simulation in the systems engineering of actual systems. Various issues are discussed as sub-categories, such as discrete-time representation of waveforms, random number generation, Monte Carlo simulation, and validation.
