Abstract
The relation between the pole placement technique and the optimal regulator technique of discrete time system is presented. It is shown that the closed loop system based on both techniques, and under certain conditions, has a common Lyapunov function. It bridges the gap between these two methods for discrete-time systems, and makes them more understandable.
