Abstract
Energy filtered transmission electron microscopy (EFTEM) can provide elemental distribution images with high spatial resolution. In the field of cermet materials this technique is of particular interest as it enables microanalysis also of light elements down to the nanometre level. An overview is given of the EFTEM technique and some examples of its successful application in the development of cermet materials are presented.
