Abstract
In this paper, the numerical solution of stiff initial value problems by means of Lobatto IIIA Runge-Kutta methods is considered. New iterative schemes for an efficient solution of the implicit equations associated to the fourth- and sixth-order Runge-Kutta Lobatto IIIA formulae are proposed. Finally, the results of some numerical experiments are presented to show that, when implemented with the new iterative schemes, Lobatto IIIA formulae can be competitive with standard codes used in solving stiff systems.
