On the group as the multiplication group of a loop

We prove that the group PSL ( n , q ) in its natural permutation representation is the multiplication group of a loop if and only if n ≥ 3 , ( n , q ) ≠ ( 3 , 2 ) , and gcd ( n , q − 1 ) = 1 .
