Abstract
The Sivashinsky equation is a nonlinear evolutionary equation of fourth order in space. In this paper we have analyzed a semidiscrete finite element method and completely discrete scheme based on the backward Euler method and Crank–Nicolson–Galerkin scheme. A linearized backward Euler method have been developed and error bounds are derived for an L2 projection.
