Optimal control for a parametrized family of nonlinear Cauchy singular integral equations

An optimal control problem for a parametrized family of nonlinear Cauchy singular integral equations appearing, for example, in a boundary integral equation of certain stationary free boundary value problems is investigated. The existence of optimal controls is proved and a necessary optimality condition is given.
