Covering an additive function by -many continuous functions

Let f : R → R be an additive function. We consider the following statement: if f can by covered by κ-many continuous functions from R to R then it can be also covered by κ lines. We show that this statement is true for κ < add ( M ) , but it can be false for some κ < c .
