Simulation of complex manufacturing equipment reliability using object oriented methods

Reliability of manufacturing equipment has a large impact on throughput and productivity. Hitherto, attempts at modeling manufacturing equipment reliability has concentrated on the use of analytical models or high-level simulation models. These approaches have been limited in their ability to model complex systems. To extend the scope of modeling capabilities, this research presents a hierarchical, multi-absorption simulation approach to modeling complex manufacturing equipment.
