Evaluation of the unavailability of a multistate-component system using a binary model

In this article, we discuss the problem of computing the unavailability of a multistate-component system. We propose the use of a Boolean model describing as much as possible about the system structure. A theorem of two-sided estimation of the approximation error enables us to check the calculation accuracy. An application of this method to a nuclear safety system is offered.
