Abstract :
A systematic procedure has been proposed in this study to construct Petri nets for modeling the fault propagation behaviors in batch processes. An efficient algorithm has also been developed to enumerate all possible scenarios, which may lead to an undesirable consequence. This approach has been applied to a number of examples. The results show that it is more accurate and more comprehensive when compared with the conventional methods.
