Fixed point index and braid invariant for fixed points of embeddings on the disk

We consider an orientation-preserving embedding of a 2-dimensional disk to itself having finitely many fixed points. Some results are obtained which are concerned with the relationship between the fixed point index and the braid invariant of fixed points. These results are applied to obtain sufficient conditions which guarantee a collection of fixed points to contain an unstable one.
