A note on binary quintic forms and lines of principal curvature on surfaces in

Asymptotic curves are well defined on a smooth surface M in the Euclidean space R 5 and are solutions of a binary quintic differential equation. We propose in this paper a definition of the lines of principal curvature on M that uses covariants of binary quintic forms as well as the metric structure on M.
