Embedding of expansive dynamical systems into symbolic dynamical systems

Let (X, d) be a compact and totally disconnected metric space, and T an expansive continuous mapping on X with values in X. Then, it is shown that the expansive dynamical system (X, d, T) can be embedded into a certain symbolic dynamical system. Moreover, compactification of the family consisting of all nonexpansive mappings on a compact metric space is given.
