Irreducible representations of current algebras in two dimensions

The irreducibility of a class of unitary representations of certain central extensions of current algebras in two dimensions, constructed in a previous paper, is announced. The techniques are extended and supplemented with new elements in order to construct representations of the central extension of Etingof and Frenkel. Irreducibility of the latter is announced.
