Abstract :
This article discusses articles 149 and 303, as well as other relevant provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea which relate to the legal status of archaeological and historical objects found at sea, and attempts to clarify jurisdictional aspects of such objects in the territorial sea, the contiguous zone, the exclusive economic zone and the deep seabed area beyond national jurisdiction, and on the continental shelf.
