Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to describe the real experiences of new TESOL teachers during their first year of employment and how they socialized with their new environment. 25 EFL novice teachers of state high schools and 25 EFL novice teachers of non-profit schools in Khorramabad, Iran, participated in this study. Since two groups of teachers participate in the present research study, the researchers referred to four public schools in Khorramabad, Iran including Esmatieh, Velayat, Imam Ali (PBUH) and Fazilat; and non-profit language institutes including Gooyesh, Zabansara, Kowsar and Kish. The present study is a mixture of qualitative and quantitative. This mixed method approach is employed in which both qualitative and quantitative analyses are used to gain the individualized standpoints and views of novice teachers about the challenges faced in their context of teaching.
