Analysis of a loaded elastic wheel rolling down a circular track

Using the methods of classical mechanics for discrete systems, it is shown that conditions exist such that an elastic wheel, carrying a heavy load on a suspension spring, and rolling down a circular track onto a horizontal pavement, will bounce off the pavement due to the sudden change in acceleration when the circle ends.
