Mixing in low rate flows

By means of a single transport equation, solutions to a numerical model of the mixing of two fluids through a porous region are obtained. The flow rates are low and constant and the fluids are separated upstream by an impermeable barrier. The region over which the mixing takes place is finite. Both steady state and transient solutions are evaluated and the results indicate that diffusive mixing occurs around the barrier against the flow.
